Spinnaker Veterinary Clinic Inc. is pleased to now add acupuncture therapy to our list of services.

Dr. Marya Gabriel, D.V.M., C.V.A. is now offering acupuncture therapy. She is a graduate of an intensive course in veterinary acupuncture offered by the  Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida and has fulfilled all the requirements to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.

Acupuncture is a traditional form of therapy invented by the Chinese, that involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points of the body to create a therapeutic effect.

Acupuncture can be used to relieve pain and to treat many chronic illnesses. Most patients require weekly treatments during the first 3 to 6 weeks of therapy. As symptoms improve, the intervals between treatments may be extended. Every treatment is individualized and may vary depending on the patient’s response.

Acupuncture is safe, well tolerated by most animals, and can be used in conjunction with other treatments or therapies.

Prior to the first acupuncture visit, Dr. Gabriel asks that owners please complete a questionnaire that will help her determine the best treatment options for each individual patient. This form can be found on by going to the homepage of our website where you will then click “Forms” at the very top of the page. Owners can then print and complete the form, or complete the form online and submit it to us electronically.
